Pharmacological properties. Participates in various metabolic processes in the body, enhances the oxidation and reduction reactions in the body, improves the antitoxic liver function. Infusion of glucose solutions partially compensates for water depletion. Glucose entering tissues is phosphorylated into glucose-6-phosphate, which is actively involved in many body metabolism stages.

5% glucose solution is isotonic in blood plasma and has detoxification, metabolic effect, it is a source of highly digestible precious nutrients. In glucose metabolism a significant amount of energy needed for the body vital activities is released in the tissues.

Hypertonic solutions (10%, 20%) increase blood osmotic pressure, improve metabolism, increase myocardial contractility; improve antitoxic liver function, dilate blood vessels, increase diuresis.

Completely digestible by the body, is not excreted renally (urinary excretion is a pathological characteristics).

Indications. Hypoglycemia, carbohydrate malnutrition, toxicoinfections, intoxications in liver diseases (hepatitis, liver dystrophy and atrophy, including hepatic insufficiency), hemorrhagic diathesis; dehydration (vomiting, diarrhoea, postoperative period); intoxication; collapse, shock.

As a component of various blood substitutes and antishock fluids; for preparation of drug solutions for intravenous administration.

Shelf life: 3 years.
